They're probably trying to regain the business they lost from schools that no longer require standardized tests for admissions. They ditched them because they were an objective measure of academic performance so blacks and browns had shitty scores. They're trying to make them as gameable (and therefore meaningless) as high school grades. The adversity score crap they were considering a few years back had the same aim.

Did they ever figure out how to grade the essay portion? I know the SAT tacked it on because women are bad at math and logic, but last I heard it never contributed to the score since it was completely subjective.

I thought they did grade the essay but provided it as a separate score that colleges may or may not use
For fucks sake. My final licensing exams were 8 hours of tests for 5 days straight, and that wasn't considered extreme at the time.
