Ahh yes, the old id rather sit in a old chair in a small room playing video games all day versus having money to go on vacations or even gas money to drive anywhere.
One of my biggest dreams was to visit the pyramids of giza, spoiler, its never going to happen.
I normally really like afterskool productions but this is just such a cheap cop out. To blame the individual, and not society that shapes them.
I actually even agree, but its not video games.
Its school.
At 16, people were having familys, becoming knights/soldiers etc. Its always the young people who seem to want to change the world.
What do we do now, we force people to sit in class and learn until their 18 where they are usually forced to learn for another 4 years or 8 or longer if you want to be a "true" professional.
By the time youve been through all that, you no longer want to change the world, you just want to do your shitty little routines that youve become accustomed to.

Seems to be intentional I think.
Most modern "education" is a scam.
The reason American high school is called secondary education is originally, you would learn all the essential skills (including finance and things we currently teach in college) in 8 years. That would leave high school for college prep (including languages such as Greek and Latin) for those who were planning on going to college, or for what could be considered apprentice work.
Now they have college programs for the trades... that do nothing for the person taking the courses.

It's absolutely intentional. Why do you think endless "entertainment" is now free (meaning, the product-)
