Sending Marines or other non-NG military to act on American soil does set a dangerous precedent, not to mention just inflame things further. Again, we already have the Guard. Isn't sending them in enough?

Mexicans are attacking an American city under their own banner. Sending the Army with orders to shoot to kill is the appropriate response.
