There's an ongoing drama around the Nikke game.
Apparently, the CEO has his tongue deep in the butt of China. The Chinese players have several QoL content that the global players have been asking for years. Not even the Koreans have this special treatment.
-The loading time on Chinese servers is instantaneous, whereas on global and even Korean servers you have to wait 2 to 5 minutes
-They have daily rewards and tickets.
-Moulds have a 100% chance of success
-They have an auto mode for the tower.
-They don't have to wait 4 hours to repack a character in the synchro machine, so they don't even have to spend 500 gems each time to open a new slot
-Resetting a character is free
-Character stats are improved.
-Stores are more generous.
etc
On the other hand, the game is heavily censored.
-The female characters have their chest, legs, and Buttocks covered
-They've removed large portions of the character base entirely -Matis doesn't exist in the game.
-They've drastically censored plot points of the story regarding "anti government" messaging.
-They've completely changed certain characters to fit CCP messagin.
-They've removed large chunks of story due to themes.
-They've removed characters with darker skins. I'm talking about Gyaru types of characters.
It's just like what Disney did with the chinese versions of Star Wars and Black Panther except the characters in nikke are not even black.
When hearing about the complains, the CEO took refuge on Weibo (the Chinese twitter) and retweeted a Chinese guy making fun of global players and then deleted the message because even the Chinese started clowning him.
Lmao. Probably chinese government requirements to even exist in their market. Even in a sea of slop, gacha trash managed to piss off even the commies to the point that someone from CCP probably called them and demanded the changes.
Total gacha death.
The Chinese are the biggest whale, and really audience period, market in the world. Many, many Korean (and even some Japanese) games get special Chinese versions with more content and more responsive devs.
So this is a not a new thing, its a long established trend. One that we can't hope to compete against because its sheer market influences doing it, and spending like the Chinese on these games would be retarded in and of itself.
I wish it wasn't the case because I've had quite a few non-gooner mobile games get the same treatment on me and its disappointing.
The Chinese also get easily upset if they don't get their way, seeing it as an affront to their entire people/nation, and you'll know by the swarm of bugmen in your forums spamming their incomprehensible memes and death threats.
Pussy-ass Western developers bitching about "toxicity" haven't seen shit until they've dealt with chinks.
One night in Bangkok will make a hard man humble, as they say.
Literally any game that doesn't have a Chinese translation, or god forbid a poor one, will see itself review bombed into the negatives by them. They are one of the worst, most entitled people and even people not attempting to pander to them will often need to bend the knee just to survive the onslaught.
At least the "why no Ukraine version?!" is a temporary bunch of losers right now, the Chinese have always been this way.
Did you expect anything else from a genre that started with exploitation first, then built a game over top of that?
From yesterday’s dev note:
We’re aiming to fix the long black screen that appears when launching the game by (in?) June. Based on testing, we expect to shorten load times by at least 27 seconds on both mobile and PC, and up to 141 seconds or more.
But the whole thing won’t really get going until mid-July, with the big delay that happens at 5/7 load not really being fixed until November. So fingers crossed they get this optimized and trimmed down.
Just implementing the feature that tries (its best) to force 60 FPS so machine gun firing rate doesn’t get cut in half on a less than brand new mobile device was huge in my book.
As for all the rest of the CN version changes, all I can say is let them have them, and if we happen to get some of them too, like the Doro buff, then great. A reasonable portion of the people mocking the CN censorship are probably actually understandably afraid and insecure that they might start altering things globally so that there’s less work and more “matching” between the two games moving forward.
