Almost all "fascist" parties in Europe experienced a nascent communist revolution in recent memory. For example, communist agitators instigated a general worker strike in Germany in January 1918. Communists at this time were violent revolutionaries.

So, they had a first had experience with communists, and hated them with a passion.
