In some ways it must be nice to have the retarded and brainwashed moral certainty of a leftist.
Political violence is bad. They can riot though because the other guys are so bad, and violated all the Norms™. They're utterly convinced there is never a justification for rightwing violence or protest, but their own actions are always justified.
The government shutting down is the worst thing ever...but we must shut down the government!
The government needs to be involved in the most minute details of everyone's lives...but not like that.
