Was always aware of it but never watched it til last night. Very interesting premise. It actually was inspired by an 80s Twilight Zone episode called Special Service where a guy learns that his life is a tv show.
What did y’all think of Truman Show? Also, shameless plug again for 80s TZ. Original is my favorite but I also love the 80s version and have a soft spot for it since my parents used to watch it and I’d watch along. All the episodes are on YouTube.
I always liked it, a bit sappy but well put together and well acted. What I find amusing is how different it was from the rest of Peter Weir's filmography. This is the guy that directed Gallipoli, Witness, and Master and Commander! By the way, I highly recommend Gallipoli if you haven't seen it. I should check out the 80s TZ, love the original.
Darn, it was bedtime.
Cool! I’ll check it out. Yea I really liked the movie. To show my TZ nerdiness even further I have book that has all the short stories that were used for original twilight episodes and Vol 2 which had all the short stories used for 80s TZ.
Let me know what you think of it
I'd never considered that TZ was adapted from short stories, but it makes a lot of sense. Creepy pasta before it was cool.
Not all episodes but some. Like the famous original series episode where the aliens arrive and provide the end to world hunger and leave a book that’s really a cookbook. Serling adapted a short sci-fi story. Also the one where the boy controls everything with his mind.
Beautiful movie. One of the few that makes me tear up like a fag
Although I’d be curious to see what his life was like on the outside
I watched it when it first came out and I consider it a classic
Yea. Very good
First time I saw the "cue the sun" scene where they turn a dial to make the night become day, I got chills. Must have been addicting for the guy in charge to have such powers at his fingertips
Absolutely.
Mark Sargent is a big fan and I respect him a lot.
