There's a reason they started burning down hotels in Ireland. The good news is that high rate is a relatively recent development and they reacted much quicker than say Canada, so even though it's bad right now not nearly as much damage has been done
The bad news is that those responsible (you nose who) are so wealthy and well-protected they can continue stomping the accelerator full force and nothing will happen to them.
