And Zelenskyy's term didn't start until 2019. He gave Russia prisoner swaps, etc. to prevent the invasion, but Russia attacked anyway.

Zelenskyy tried to mend its relationship with it's breakaway regions and Russia. Putin's a warmonger, plain and simple.
