Yeah, but they always start by saying "We'll only ban lolis and underage content." Then when they realize how it's impossible to make objective decisions on what does and doesn't count as loli, they then go and say "No NSFW content at all." Then they start targeting mainstream anime. It's the same story every time.
This is why lolis are the litmus test of who has principles and who doesn't. There are so many fair weather free speech advocates who reveal themselves to be something else entirely whenever the topic arises.
Yup, as someone who hates the extremes on both ends, and think the obsessively pro and obsessively anti loli crowd are both highly suspect lunatics...I always come at it from a logical perspective; it's drawn stuff. As long is no real children are involved, I don't care.

It would be like the Australia porn model, but for art. If I'm drawing a character, am I mandated by law to make sure the boobs are big enough (based?), or what? If I put pencil to paper, and draw the wrong thing, that's criminal?

I really hate the discussion too because, as mentioned, the fringes from both ends are obsessive weirdos who will bite your head off if you're not totally for or totally against lolis, depending on side. Nah, miss me with that; it's gross, not my thing, but as long as real kids aren't being hurt, don't care.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if I get a scathing response or two for this measured take...and it could be all from one side, all from the other, or a mix. I'm a disgusting degenerate for not wanting it banned...or a censorious conservative for not liking it. Heh.
I think you misunderstand the pro loli side. Most pro loli people don't mind if you call it degenerate, as long as you are not calling them outright criminals like calling them pedos and basically equating them to the worst of the worst criminals. .
. The only reason they are so aggressive about being "pro loli" is because the anti loli side are so aggressive about it and calling them all sorts of names about it. . Before the anti loli side because so aggressive, the pro loli side didn't mind making jokes even at their own expense about it and never expected or demanded people to "like it"
I was specifically calling out the fringes of each side. We have some weirdos here, for example, who conflate being called 'degenerate' with being called pedos, and since "pedos should be killed," calling them degenerates is actually a call for violence so 'fuck you, I'll kill you first, go die reeee speeeerrrrggg [gets banned yet again for death threats] etc.'
There are more moderate voices on both sides of the debate too. That wasn't my point. My point was there are very unpleasant lunatics on each side who think on the one side if you don't want it banned and every enjoyer shot you're a pedo too; and on the other if you think it is degenerate you're a fascist and probably also a pedo...

As a right leaning person who doesn’t like anime(because I’m not gay) I think it should be attacked and the right leaning viewers should be told their losers and weirdos. This will only strength the right.
