I mean yeah. Obama was a literal blank slate, empty history when he came into the spotlight. All anyone talked about was "he was a community organizer" and then it was just "he black" and other low stakes nonsense.

It wasn't until midway into Trump's first term that people started to go back and look into his actual history and find more questionable things.
