But, yeah, they're treating people asking why they can't pay bail as if they're stupid, and saying that's not what the money - which was raised for legal costs, as far as I know - is actually "survival money" to protect them from evil racists.

I honestly believe that's their entire point here. They're trying to actually invert the racial divide in this country. They want the black monster to be treated the way they think White kids are and they want the White kid to be seen as "deserving it" the way most black kids do.
It's hardcore racial jealousy.
Meanwhile, White kids get the benefit of the doubt, because they don't stab people over simple disagreements. They just fight it out, and one one kid drops, everyone walks away. No one gets kicked in the head or gets their property stolen while unconscious. If they could just do this people could relax a little around them.
