Because some men are still based and want to fight censorship and defend liberty. Despite all your antihuman efforts to the contrary.
Begone, feminist!
I have no interest in this game, but I think its removal is a travesty. People can play it or not.
Although I think porn is bad, porn games are already pretty far down the rabbit hole. Considering how much easier it is to just watch porn (which is its own issue), if you're going out of your way to play porn games, the damage is already done. So I don't care. I've always defended it on freedom grounds. Again, people can play it or not. Almost no one is going to get further porn-addicted by playing games, that's not how this works, that's not how any of this works.
We are so cooked...
As an aside, I fucking hate Modern™ language.
...fighting for their right to play a rape simulation game?
It's. Fucking. Fiction.
I have a right to play a rape game, just like I play a ton of "murder" games.
Fuck. Off. Feminist. Progressive. Retards.
I don’t know if anyone has ever said this to you but yall are rapists. Yall just haven’t raped yet.
Rich, coming from feminists who have been raping civilization for decades millennia, in one form or another.
I've never raped anyone, and never will. Fuckers like you have raped, pillaged, and destroyed my culture. So fuck right off.
Steam didn't even ban it. The dev willingly took it off Steam after a few countries banned it to avoid getting Steam themselves into more controversy.
That fact keeps getting lost in all of this, but he gracefully and willingly took it down once shit started going sideways. Opinions on that option may vary, but it wasn't Steam at play.
Serves me right for not looking into it more, I suppose. Thanks for the clarification.

What a cuck!

I mean, it's not his responsibility. I'd argue it's not graceful, it's self censorship. He owes nothing to Steam. If Steam wants to ban it, he should stick around and make them do that, not beat them to to the punch and ban his own game. That accomplishes nothing. Steam is much, much, much bigger than he is. It's not his duty to protect Steam, it's Steam's duty to protect him and their own integrity, or cave.
I give the dev zero credit on this. All he did was remove his own game from the biggest storefront.

I understand this opinion, and I don't think its wrong.
I think homie just made a cheap asset flip itch.io game for his gooning needs, and it became an international controversy. And rather than embroil himself in the culture war, he just bowed out.
If this was a legitimate game made with actual effort and skill, I'd lean more into your perspective. But given how zero effort and numerous games like this are on Steam, I don't think he even cared that much about protecting it himself. Heck his reasoning of "protecting Steam" could just be cope to make himself sound better.
it's Steam's duty to protect him and their own integrity, or cave.
Funnily enough that have good precedent of doing so, and likely would have here too. Heck last time one got this big of a stink (Hatred) Gaben himself descended to defend and reinstate it.
Unless it involves anime, then Steam is happy to ban anything because "possible loli scary."

the thing is, there are certain (((Exceptions))) to this rule, i.e a game where features shota and/or incest (See Kagura games)
i remember how years ago steam came out with an announcement "we are not the taste police" and then shortly after became the taste police
