Neuromancer is unique in that there really aren't other entries in the genre it codified. There are a handful of short stories that predate it, but nothing after it genuinely understood cyberpunk beyond an aesthetic (don't get me started on Snowcrash).

Absolute truth. Snowcrash is a theme park.

Neuromancer is one of those rare books that makes another world so genuinely interesting that it can put you in it.
