As an American I like Japans culture. They're responsible, respectful and mindful of their role and effects on society as a whole. I want them to feel comfortable being Japan and continuing to be Japan without outside pressure. That being said, they were off their rockers around the war. In addition to what Akira said, they were entirely unreasonable and had to be deal with by force or they'd just keep blundering along without considering peace at all. These days they're much more chill and America can get along with them without threat of force, they're even one of our few allies that pays for their own shit and tries to align with us so we really should have begun loosening our restrictions on them a LONG time ago, especially their military restrictions. Right now they're like an American colony and they're going to pay for it if we don't hurry up. I know Trump was talking about it last time he was president, I hope he does something soon.
