Because in the US at least, women have had full equality (or preferential treatment) for 100+ years. After the 19th Amendment, "feminism" has been a marketing campaign to sell women products.

"You're super special for being born on the side of the coin flip you were. Buy this, believe that, and vote how we say. It's empowering and stuff."
