I think the patient gamer attitude works best here.

Just wait 3 to 4 months after every new release before making a purchase.

The truth will come out in time.

Then if you still really want it, and it doesn't have things in you don't like, there's a good chance it'll be on sale by then.

There is no downside to waiting.
