That makes me believe it's not going very well if he has to resort to tactics like that.
I know huge companies do that too, but they usually pay an army of bots rather than just say that they want to directly manipulate a game's score on social media.
It's so far doing much better out of the gate than the first one did, which seems good at first. But back then it was a niche game from an unknown studio, which was crowdfunded and was met with widespread negative publicity. More importantly it's not a indie game anymore, they sold out to a large publisher who has much higher expectations for returns. Dragon Age Veilguard sold millions of copies but was declared a failure because they were expecting twice what they sold.
Not exactly surprising that it does better because the first one had horrible performance and was riddled with bugs, combined with a lot of bad publicity and no marketing to speak of, except Vavras Twitter shitposting. Also the combat system is hard to get used to and even if you do it's still very janky.
I tested KCD1 once during a free weekend many years ago but the performance was so unbelievable shit on my 1060 (on the lowest settings) that I didn't bother playing more than 15 minutes before uninstalling it. I only bought and finished KCD1 last year with a significantly better system and even then the performance was still quite shit. Recently I bought a used 3080ti and in KCD1 it barely feels like an upgrade compared to my 6600XT.
Having a better launch than KCD1 was pretty much guaranteed for KCD2. But it remains to be seen if it manages to be more successful over all. It won't be a disaster like Veilguard but considering how hard they tried to hide the woke shit and how rabid Vavra acts I wouldn't be surprised if it is already falling short of their expectations.
Maybe both? Games have started strong and tapered off rapidly due to negative reviews/talk. While KCD2 has cleared 1M sales, it'll likely need 2-3x that to break even.
1m sales so far and is not even weekend. It will break 3m for sure. I'm hoping it sells much worse then the first one that sold 6m but not holding my breath.
To many alt-right are either quiet or standing with Vavra, the past 10 years we've learned nothing about gatekeeping. We deserve what we tolerate.
Whenever stuff like this happens it always the sequel or later offerings that suffers and not the origin of audience betrayal. Disney starwars was selling well even TLJ sold well and only started failing several movies later.
This seems pathetic. He went from who cares it's all about the game to "oh no my fake bs score". Is he already on estrogen?
His investors might give an increase in their funding if they get a certain score.
This. I am about 75% certain Embracer tends to tie bonuses to game score on reviews.
That seems stupid. Why do game scores matter rather then sales numbers?
To Commies pushing propaganda, scores can be tilted but raw sales numbers can't.

So far no one is contesting the game is a financial success. I'm guessing it is more about his ego.

The first of many arab merchants is conveniently 3 hours into the game, just after the refund window.

Supposedly they already broke even on development costs.
That makes me wonder why he would be this way. Is he just one of those people that has to argue with someone on the internet or something?
Absolutely, yes.
Vavra the sodomy enjoyer is at least getting eviscerated in the replies. Good to see.
Gas for that Bentley ain't cheap.
