The Fantastic Four is about family, adventure, and unique villains. Those themes are incredibly difficult bars for modern writers to clear. I don't have high hopes for it.
They "can't" (read: won't) make a good Superman movie because the character is inherently, by their own accusations, "too White" and "too American." Did you hear what Anthony Mackie had to say about the label "America" being applied to Captain America? They want the money the character draws, but they don't want to honor the virtues of the character or what he inspires. They don't want to promote the idea of America being a force for good, or for Americans to be proud of being American.
I don't think I need to remind you of who and which kind of people run Hollywood.

It's why they can't make a good Superman movie. They need their brooding anti-heroes, who don't need anyone.

I think it was Orson Wells who said, "All you need to write a great story is Shakespeare and the Bible."
Modern "writers" aren't reading either.
