Some right wingers are mad at Elon generating controversy like this, but it might be helpful to inure the public to "everyone I don't like is a nazi" attacks.
Honestly, I know nobody wants to admit it, but I think it was a Nazi salute. At least he wants it to look like one while still maintaining plausible deniability. This is a guy that burnt all the bridges on the left with CA, and super recently lost the entirety of the grassroots right with the H1B shit.
This was an actual real life dog whistle, although desperate and entirely unauthentic. Exactly how it’d be scripted by the sort of Ivy League “strategist” that would think dog whistles are real and the online right is actually full of literal Nazis. He’s desperate and this is sad… imo.
I could see that happening, minus the Ivy Leaguer. The type of guy who changed his name to "Kekius Maximus" is autistic enough to think of this all by his lonesome
