Ugly characters aren't catering to cross dressers though. They want to imagine themselves as sexy just as much as everyone else wants sexy characters. The point is that people aren't forming families irl, and those running the show are trying to pin the blame on absolutely everything else to avoid their own culpability in the fact that taking away almost every choice people can make for themselves, in an attempt to automate life, does not produce functional adults. They don't want to admit that providing a wage where a man can actually care for a women, and protect her from their bullshit, is essential to the formation of functional families. They don't want to accept that intruding on every single facet of human life with devices is essentially murdering the human spirit.
