Lords of The Fallen Dev Vows to Update Game to Replace Body Type A/B With Male/Female After Players Vote to Keep Gender Politics...
CI Games confirmed after a poll on gender in gaming that it will update Lords of the Fallen with traditional male and female options.
Whoa.
Okay, a few things. Firstly: Excellent.
Second: this could be a publicity stunt, but that leads into our third point. Third: It would be great if culture is shifting so much a AA (I think) studio can get positive publicity by dunking on woke/ESG/DEI stuff. That's actually huge.
Now, this is a nitpick, but it's also kind of annoying that people are just shifting with the changing winds. I know that's just how it works, and I understand the business perspective, but like with Zuckerborg, it reeks of cowardice. "We hold these strong opinions, and now that it's safe, we can act on them, yay!" Again, nitpicking though. Overall this is very positive.
Lastly, I'm surprised they're changing existing games. That will really rile people up, and I love it! I figured they'd take the poll results and implement them going forward. Not remove A/B shit from a past game. Again...love it. Let the seething reach the sky.
They took over our hobbies, but their obnoxious moral screeching can only go on so long before critical mass is reached and enough people are fed up for it to no longer be cool or profitable. They ruined games until the companies started to realize it wasn't working, and the people realized they could just not buy those games, and say why they weren't buying those games. The woke's power is still high...but definitely dwindling. The pendulum has already started to swing back, at least in this industry. Let's go.
That's the best you can hope for with a godless culture at the end of the day. But yeah, very positive.
That's how it always works.
Half the people here were Lefties until the winds came for them and now ooo ahhhh they hate the Left sooooo much and we are supposed to welcome them with open arms.
Yes and no. CI Games went through some difficult times and had some serious trouble with the development of the Lords of the Fallen follow-up: https://www.pcgamer.com/lords-of-the-fallen-2-studios-fall-out-over-quality-of-work-one-leaves-project/

I think what they're doing here is entirely strategic, realising that -- as you pointed out -- the winds of change are taking place, and ratcheting up ill-will amongst their core consumer base does them zero favours. Unlike the other big AAA studios, they can't just fall back on endless bi-annual releases of big-selling yet soulless slop.
It's a calculated move to garner some positive feedback and support for a company that's too big to ride on DEI as a no-name indie with the fallback option of being scooped up by a big publisher when their project fails, and too small to rely on an established franchise to coast on its revenue like Activision or Electronic Arts.
Now if only they would make a game worth playing. And which isn't called Lords of the Fallen.
Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts.
But, yeah, it's not an impressive lineup; a bunch of jank or stuff people have never heard of.
Is this the first time a developer has rolled back an extant LGBBQ feature? Helldivers had that skirmish with rainbow capes, but I think they just said no.
This is almost certainly a publicity stunt to try and drive some more traffic to their game after it probably fell below expectations, but its at least something and I'll appreciate it.
Its not even a terrible game this time, its just way too late to be just a vaguely better Souls Clone after we've all played ourselves tired of those.
Bad sign that they have to change it in the first place lol.
Edit: Didn't realize this was in reference to an old game rather than one in development.
