There was none of that in the classic games. Pierre had a jacket with a naked woman that was impossible to make out in the original game? What has that to do with how Lara was presented?
It's possible to simultaneously acknowledge the she is a grifter and that she isn't lying about this one thing.
She's lying tho. She's arguing semantics and technicisms, like yeah, there isn't a explicit scene where Lara poses naked, but she was designed with sex appeal, like other heroines from the 90s were (Marvel heroines, Xena, Red Sonja, Aeon Flux, etc). Not to mention the pinups and side material which she decries for some reason
She decries them because they were a product of the marketing department, against the wishes of the developers. Nowhere in the games was her sex appeal played up. She was designed to be visibly female with PS1 graphics.
What you're saying about the classic games is a milder version of what the woke say about them, including the likes of Crystal. It might not be convenient that Melonie is right on this one, but she is. Lara's sexuality wasn't played up in the games until Crystal got their hands on the franchise.
Which means I'm not saying the same thing, duh.
Much of that sexualization critique comes from the fact she has huge knockers, is not realistic and it doesn't have a practical purpose in game, that's why she can dismiss her critics as coomers.
The thing is, Tomb Raider franchise is built on this image of Lara, that is, a confident smart, athletic woman who happens to be physically attractive and have huge knockers, not a dumb bimbo that exists for pinups, ad campaigns notwithstanding. That's where the false dichotomy comes into play. Simply ask Melonie if she's fine with big boobed Lara or if she thinks it's just "gooners" pulling shit up, you'd be surprised
Women are not automatically more seductive with huge knockers.
