I'm seeing everywhere that the House is going to flip to Democrats.
Here is why this is important:
This new house will be sworn in 5 Jan, and is the House that counts the Presidential Electors on 6 Jan. Maryland Democratic Rep Raskin is on camera saying he can refuse to certify the election because Trump is "inelligible."
Anyone want to take any bets that Democrats are ballsy enough to try it?
I wouldn't call that just yet. It's going to be super close and the Republican Establishment has done everything in it's power to lose. Several seats will not be called tonight, just because they're not a big priority.
Unfortunately for them, even if he wants to, this election is going so badly for them that they don't have the political capital to try it.
For god's sake, New Jersey is within 5 points. Illinois was within 7. New York is 11. Miami-Dade didn't just flip, it went blood red. These are disastrous results for the Dems. This is a mandate towards Trump.
Then you've got to consider how many factions are willing to take a huge risk of losing their political capital trying to get kamala over the line with a constitutional crisis. Her career is over, and anyone who gambles with her and loses goes with her. It's not worth it to try.
I might have posted too soon, the House may not flip.
We'll have to see.
Dems won't do it, at least in any significant numbers. But I hope they try.
LOL! I hope they will. That would be awesome.
Unfortunately, Trump's victory seems so overwhelming that it will just be foolhardly. Besides, there are Democrats like Jared Golden who would never go for that.
Uncertain. Decision Desk has 61% chance for Republicans to win it. (though they did have Dems up by a similar percentage earlier).
I'm sure some will want to do it. But, even if Dems take it, with Trump looking to have a substantial popular vote lead, only a few Dems will need to side with Rs to certify it because it won't be a big house lead.
Not with the popular vote for Trump.
