I listened to two other podcasts with Vance, and I came away with an even better opinion of him than I already had. And I was one of his few strong supporters here (of the final candidates, he seemed the best).
Like most politicians, I still don't trust him...but, yeah, he's amazing in these interviews, and it certainly does make me more willing to extend the benefit of the doubt. He's an incredible politician. Hopefully he's for real, and is a good guy too. Seems like it, but you can never tell.
Agreed. I had my issues, but I was rooting for him too. He's delivered, and then some. A lot of some.
He's about the same age as I am and comes from a similar background as I do, so he is the most relatable and "normal" politician I have ever seen in my life.
If he's not genuine he's an extremely skilled fake.
That's what politics is all about.
Also came out of Rogan with a better opinion of him as a person, but a lesser chance he'll be the 2028 nominee.
He just doesn't grab you by the ear like Trump does. He's a perfect choice for VP though and that makes me think Trump has learned some valuable lessens from all the hurdles they've thrown down before him.
Trump is a once in a generation political talent. No one is like Trump, and if you compare anyone to Trump you will be disappointed.
As the old joke goes, "I don't have to outrun the bear: I just have to outrun you". As things are today he has good odds against the other people he'd be running against in 2028.
We talking about the guy who directly pointed out that society is being run by childless cat ladies?
He's toned himself down not to outshine Trump, and appear more amicable to normies.
He still comes off a bit as a dork who's trying to be personable. Most prominently on display with his (somewhat forced) laugh.
But if they win he'll have 4 years of being in the spotlight to hone that more.
Maybe, but there's some tough competition. Remember Cruz wasn't far behind Trump and that was before his beard.
There's going to be a primary and nice sensible guy may not win over ruthless masterdebator.
A lot will depend on who the dems are going to pick.
I don't think it was Cruz's charisma that made him almost equal Trump, but the mistrust that people had over Trump - the former Democrat - and the doubts about his election chances.
I'm torn. I like DeSantis for his ruthless competence, but I like Vance's anti-neoconism. Neither of them grab you by the ear as you say though.
That said, while we like Trump-like characters, I think a lot of people like the boring kind of politician.
Just finished listening to it.
Great interview. Especially the number of times Rogan brought up subjects that Vance knew nothing about (hemp, psychedelics, shooters on SSRIs, etc) and Vance came off as genuinely interested in learning about them.
5 1/2 million views already. For a VP candidate.
There is no fucking way that Kamala/Walz is anywhere near this level of popularity. I think if there were no ballot harvesting or other shenanigans going on, Kamala pulls sub 50 million votes.
If they weren't idiots, Waltz would go on Rogan. Waltz isn't actually that stupid, and tries to come off as a "friendly highschool coach".
However, it seems like Harris is asking him to play as her Joe Biden, a nonthreatening bumbling fool.
I'm probably the primary one, because it seems to be that he is my spirit animal.
Your spirit animal is just another human man? Lmao.
Well, I thought it would be Charizard, but clearly JD Vance is the better choice.
Vance isn't 4x weak to rock too
Vance has the potential to be a political avatar for men born between 1982-1990. Has first-mover advantage, if he skills up a bit more on charisma he's there.
