There's about 100x more White Nationalists on the internet than there are in real life, and part of it is because Leftists troll as WN's to poison any space that is not actively Leftist, Socialist, or Communist. WN's are really just NatSocs, and it can be difficult to discern between a real NatSoc, Fascist, or "3rd Positionist" and a Communist who is larping. This is because they aren't really any different from each other when it gets down to brass tacs, but the Communist inevitably uses purely Leftist rhetoric like "anti-colonialism", which most NatSocs simply don't care about. Frankly, the genuine alt-righters are typically less stupid, and more careful to avoid promoting violence because they face genuine governmental response. The Communists want division and violence, so they push it.
Third are the feds. They are actually playing multiple roles at the same time because they've badly infiltrated the alt-right movement. They want the alt-right to be present, to be annoying, and to justify appeals to power, but never enough to actually hold power. They want people promoting violence so they can make arrests, but they don't want anyone to actually succeed. They want people radicalized to be useful, but not radicalized enough to take action. They're basically making zealots and permanently edging them.
The problem is all three of these factions are impersonating the same people, and the genuine alt-righters are too blinded by ideology to understand how they are fucking drowning in their own controlled opposition. All while active supporting 3 separate factions that would be happy to see them destroyed: Jihadis, Communists, and the Neo-Liberal establishment.
