My theory is that the problem isn't even that they're woke, or even they took a side. the problem is that people don't like it when a brand or product go woke, pick a side, any side, and act flippant about it. It's the flippantness from the cm that got them heat.
Reminds me of when Stable Diffusion 3 was released and it sucked a huge cock and people were disappointed for all sorts of reasons. Over promise, under-deliver, long delay, API only release for over a month, lower weight release, and cronenbergs.
But what really fucking lit the dumpster fire that is Stable Diffusion was an employee tweeting and trolling people on twitter and telling people to prompt better. That shit went off hard, it went from funny to angry fast.
now r/stablediffusion is a Flux sub-reddit.
The SD3 community manager sneering and mocking somebody who wanted to give the company thousands of dollars to license the model commercially was really incredible, but it was even more incredible that he didn't get fired or suffer any negative professional consequences at all for it.
