The problem is that we actually need exactly the people who are staying away from policing, to be police. As with politicians, the policing institution is trying to explicitly drive out integrous, meritocratic, stoic people because disingenuous, cronyistic, emotionally incontent people are easier to control from a tyrants perspective.
This is why part of me actually thinks we would be better lead by randomly shifting autocrats on a yearly basis. I know for a fact that most random fucking people could probably do a better job than our current elite.
In the UK, to get above the rank of captain, you are required to have reported a college for a DEI violation.
Required. As in, it's in the promotion requirements. The next rank requires three. Yes, they are intentionally running people out of the police on purpose.
