It's not even difficulty. It's arbitrary animations and timings that require study and memorization of each enemy and boss. It's dumb and not at all intuitive.
I saw a YouTube video that captured it well. The boss readies the attack, then starts dancing in twenty seconds of feints. That is the essence of souls like games and it's retarded.
I hate to be That Guy, but (unless I'm missing the point and you're actually talking about routes, which is possible), I think you mean "rote memorization."
And, for the record, the only reason I'm even bothering to correct you is...I admit, I figured it was "wrote." It's not "root," it's not "route." But I didn't realize it was "rote." Whoops.
A memorizing process using routine or repetition, often without full attention or comprehension.
Mechanical routine

Yep, a lot of rote memorization.
Basically, it's like playing old NES games, but with better graphics.

Yep, rote is correct. I guess there's also a little bit of route memorizing too.
It’s great. You suck. :)
It can suck and be too difficult for someone simultaneously.
Honestly it was just a novelty that wore off for me after clearing the second gargoyle back in Dark Souls.
