From what I'm hearing, it sounds like although the Conservatives were useless, they appeased all sides enough that this bomb was put on pause. Labour being run by ideological idiots that want to rush things for 'progress', didn't know how to turn the countdown off and now finding out how much of this shit is going to blow up in their faces.
When you start digging into the IRA and the Provos and their track record, it's hilarious to think that anyone would try to provoke their retirees. They were literally next door to a regional power on an island, but successfully waged a military campaign against them for the better part of a century.
And the regional power essentially went "all right, we're scarpering off, if you promise not to kill any more of us, we'll let you go home" (this was called "decommissioning"). And even then, about half of the captured IRA/Provos told the Brits off ("Stick Your Decommission" is even the lyrics of a protest song) and accepted sentences in British maximum security prison rather than pinky swearing to not kill more Brits.
I'd like to believe this "they'll riot again on weekends/when it's convenient" cope, but I fear things have fizzled out in the face of draconian special courts and the anarcho-tyranny of Muslim gangs running wild.
As I said in another thread, the patriots will have to get creative & change tactics. The losses will be too great in terms of manpower being hauled off to prison for more direct confrontation in footy riot style.
