I'm not going to post the leaks in the main post mainly because it is leaks and not the full pages yet, but I didn't think I could dislike how Horikoshi took the latter portions of the manga more than I do until now. There's certain things I've seen as a part of the ending that I genuinely can't believe, but I see Horikoshi do certain things and it is what it is at this point. He's the author of this manga and all I can do is read it, but like Toriyama with Dragon Ball, a lot of his decisions with his series are flawed.

You mean the manga/anime that has one villain correct another villain over pronoun use? No, I don't follow it.
I couldn't be assed at this point. MHA went up like a ferry full of e-cars. It's called My Hero Academia but they didn't even finish their first fucking year.
Like there's the pathetic instance of Horikoshi dropping the traitor/mole plot thread in a throwaway line because he forgot about it for so long, only to bring it back because he was entirely out of ideas and wanted to have drama between a background character and a shitty gag character.
What a fucking wretched manga MHA turned out to be.
That's a Shonen
SlopJump manga for you. When you're expected to shit out new content every week, you tend not to think about how your story's going to unfold in the long term.I am really unhappy with the way it ended, but I could tell as the final fight continued on that we were going to get this bullshit kumbaya everyone is friends thing.
I'm not against some optimistic messaging and positive series, but this really laid it on thick, especially for a Japanese series.
Without specific spoilers, they have one character highlighted who has done a "great job with prejudiced-based incidents recently" and maybe 3 pages before has a line that says "We all look different, and because of that we can empathize with each other"
And I just think that is such stupid fucking messaging. All of human history proves that is not the case, and 3 pages later your own characters confirm it by needing to deal with "prejudiced-based incidents"
I think the series was fun and a great take on super heroes before things like the Boys and Marvel got as off the rails as it has at this point. I'm disappointed but almost every long-running series ending has been either bittersweet at best or just plain disappointing.
I moreso hate the way that Izuku gets treated at the end, mainly because it's like I don't get how they decided to make him get a minimum wage job, no one recognizes him as the hero who saved Japan and his friends didn't talk to him for eight fucking years.
Mangaka like Horikoshi are the reason why fanfiction is so popular, because I don't get how you shit the bed with the ending that horribly.
It's not that dire. Izuku is a UA teacher for the hero course, and grade-schoolers give him the same respect as All Might.
I kinda get why Class1-A would want to keep the new Iron Man suit a secret until it's actually ready, but for them to be no-contact, especially Ochako, is just odd.
Never part of MHA reader/viewership, wasn't my thing but is this ending like the AoT ending where it was meme'd on for being bad in the Manga but came off well in the Anime.
Or is this going to be like the ME3 of Manga?
Moreso ME3, because the problem with the manga ending for AOT is that the Armin stuff and the tree scene came out like six months apart so leaving it at the Armin stuff was really bad because of how things were worded, while the problem with the MHA ending is that it fucking sucks. Izuku wins, loses OFA and ends up with no girls eight years later, like Horikoshi explicitly makes a point to show that Izuku is single even though Izuku/Ochako had been pushed as much as Naruto/Hinata was.
Bet the dude is afraid of the fujos. I would be.
Oh yeah, Bakugo is the fujo's preferred ship, and the ending only added more fuel to the fire.
That just sounds mean, at least you have Nagatoro for one couple that FINALLY got together.
And Uzaki has officially 'ridden the dragon' lol..
I never watched or read Naruto. But I'm familiar with the basic story and most of the characters well enough. The fact that Naruto ended up with Hinata earned a lot of respect from me. Most manga and anime are extremely formulaic as far as romance and relationships go in that you can almost always predict how that shit will end up after the first few episodes/chapters.
That being said formulaic isn't always bad. Abe is rolling in his grave at the missed opportunity for wholesome natalist propaganda.
Came off well in the anime?
AoT was a nationalist story that got subverted into proping up global liberalism. There is no way you can sell the AoT ending as good.
Wait that's what you got from it?
I one of the points I got was how using the 'sins of your ancestors' to justify mistreatment in the present now creates a perpetual cycle of pain and retaliation only to lead to endless suffering.
Explain to me how, ahem: "perpetual cycle of pain and retaliation" isn't just another way of saying war guilt and reparations. Dude, the ending is SO left wing.
The guilt OF THE CONFLICTS past led to the King of the island doing a false uprising against his empire then brainwashing the residents of the island to believe they were the only ones left inside the walls because of the titans.
The weapon he made (which were practically nukes at the time) but had no intention of using led to foreign powers wanting to take it for themselves to claim the world as THEIRS.
It's a message against half measures and constant compromises in the face of those that won't relinquish their past grudges. I'd say that sounds anti-left given how much they talk about 'White privilege' and the like. If Marley had sought any other path then just seeing 'an Island of Devils', Eren wouldn't have gone "better you go than my people".
Nevermind leaks, the whole final chapter is already scanlated.
I get the impression that the publisher, Shueisha, really wanted the series to be over already. Capeshit never really resonated with Japan, and it's reflected in My Hero Academia's readership and sales. Demon Slayer had a shorter run and it already eclipses MHA.
So yeah, Horikoshi likely rushed to end it somewhat gracefully before his publisher get too impatient and axe it unceremoniously. The story could've benefitted from a time skip to the students being third-years with more experience under their belts, but what's done is done.
At least Hori didn't leave children around for a sequel hook like Boruto.
I think there are tons of sequel hooks, like the tools shown at the end and several of the final scenes. I am hopeful there will not be some sort of "Our hero academia" next but I just won't pick it up like I didn't pick up Boruto.
Is it ending soon? I lost interest after 5? seasons of just fighting the slightly different villain groups with not much advances in the plot
It just ended.
