Steam :: EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 6 :: Regarding the specification that requires sign in to Epic Games account
Important Message Thank you for your feedback on “Earth Defense Forces 6”. The EDF6 development team for Steam is reviewing and planning changes to the specification that requires sign in to Epic Games account, which has received the most feedback. At this...
Regardless of how much fun it is, it has to be made clear that EDF is a rather mediocre game; the low budget of low budgets. Going through all that sort of shit for a $60 mediocre game is absolutely stupid.
TBF i have gotten way more fun out of edf than many other games in the same price range
I got 4.1 and 5 on some good deals, certainly not full price though.
It was fine at a PS2 level, but its also never grown past that level either.
Stop giving money to these companies when they pull moves like this. Stop letting them ask for forgiveness rather than asking for permission. By forgiving them, you are just letting them slowly turn the ratchet to end up where they want to be eventually. Make it so painful for them that they don't even think about pulling shady shit in the first place.
I've been really enjoying the steam forums for this game. The bootlicking liberal retards were overpowered right out of the gate and never gained any momentum. The anti epic sentiment just fucking crushed them. They are so fucking salty about it and it's glorious.
They keep trying to ad hominem to dismiss and distract from the issue but the overwhelming majority is not having it. Absolutely based.
Is trying to require an account for a service different to the one you bought the game on to play it becoming more common? I think it might be the newest bad idea that's catching on among gaming executives.
complaining works
Does it require a steam sign in? then demand that gets removed too.
The difference is you consented to the steam sign in by, wait for it, buying it on steam. The epic games account is being forced on people who bought it on steam without warning, consent, or even being necessary, as EDF 5's online worked just fine without it. Why should some third party company have any sort of control over the games I bought on steam? It would be just as stupid if the epic games store version forced a steam login.
Why should steam have any control over games you bought on steam? If I buy a physical game off amazon I don't have to sign in to my amazon account to use it. Same goes for GoG.
Steam got started by pulling the exact same shit as this with HL2. So, while I agree that requiring two accounts is even dumber than requiring one, complaining about this while buying the game on steam is moronic.
People would be complaining even if they knew about it before hand like all the other games that required it. I haven't heard people kick up a fuss about all the bad software Lethn mentioned that's secretly stuck in games, without a mention on store pages either.
True but the backlash is worse because it wasnt made known beforehand. That they waited until 6 hours after release gives the impression they were trying to sneak it in because they knew people would be upset if they knew ahead of time. If more people were aware of the shit being snuck into games these days i'm sure there would be an equal shitstorm abut that too.
If you want digital games that aren't tied to an account, you have few options like GoG or torrents.
There are old-ish games on abandonware websites too.
Not forgetting console emulation and ROMs.
All your games bought on Steam are linked to your Steam account though.
