I'm sorely tempted to give them my money for this one. On the other hand, Deadpool 2 was "meh." On the other hand Ryan Reynolds willing shit into existence is amusing. On the other hand, there's no way Huge Jacked Man doesn't give an "I'm only here for the dumpster of money" performance. On the other hand, as OP points out: "Arrr Matey!"
Considering Deadpool 2 literally killed a girl for the sake of diversity, its a lot worse than "meh."
Like not even an accidental tragedy that we can stretch to shit on diversity. She literally died because they shoehorned diversity in and we were all supposed to just not talk about it.
I like Reynolds and he seems to be an all around good guy whose in this for the actual passion, but that can't be forgotten by dangling keys with Hugh Jackman.
That was a shit show and its all coming back to mind now. Hollywood has been getting stuntmen killed for a long time. I had forgotten about this. It was so fucking pointless: over extend a young and inexperienced stunt double when the shot could have been done by a more experienced person in a wig. Solely because she was black like their version of Domino. Fuck.
And if I recall correctly, she wasn't wearing a helmet (which is why she died) because a black woman can't not have a massive afro that is shoved in your face at all times and you can't fit a fro into one without looking silly.
I'm willing to give Reynolds the benefit of the doubt that it was an executive decision forced on him because they were super invested now that he had a cashcow, but the fact that Domino's actress didn't kill herself in shame for contributing to that is pathetic.

Was THAT the cause? Any fucking prop guy prior to 1999 could have made a afro helmet in a couple of days! The bigger the fro the easier the task. I don't think Reynolds or Dominos' actress aught to be blamed, but they could have called out these bad decisions at some point, even years later. But again, there's a long Hollywood tradition about not giving a shit the working schleps like stuntmen.
Yes, they won't admit it but there is zero other reason why a fucking stunt actor on a motorbike wouldn't be wearing a helmet and at the time there was a lot of side talk around why she wasn't that alluded to the afro being the reason. On top of her inexperience and gross overconfidence.
I blame Domino's actress because she accepted the role knowing she was being used as a diversity hire and political tool, cashed their money happily, and helped directly lead to the death of that woman who was impersonating her. She had more control than most of the factors that lead to what happened by her inaction and willingness to be a blackwashing tool.
You don't get the be the bludgeon for someone else and then wash your hands of the consequences of it.
This goes very hard. Do you have any direction if I wanted to dive into the history of this? Was the stuntman even a stuntman, or was she just some rando chick they pushed into a death embracing stunt?
I'm working off my own memory of the discussions and postings when it happened, so really I'd just be googling it myself to give you any further readings.
She was a motorcycle racer and this was her first job in stunts. So while she was technically experienced, the bike they used for the movie was way stronger than she was used to and they just forgot to set up barriers to keep her from flying off set, which is how she would end up crashing. Because they outright admitted in court to having basically given zero fucks to safety that day.
Which they knew she wouldn't be ready, because they imported a random black racer from Brooklyn all the way to Vancouver "for some reason" (we know why).
All the rest is reading between the lines, which I suppose means its not "confirmed" but we are all smart enough to see why many of the decisions were made.
Just playing devil's advocate... white dudes can be shitty stunt men too. I saw some Dateline special on this retard "Crazy Mike" who almost died multiple times.
Tying this last minute revival of Disney's attempts to appeal to the larger paying customer base of comic book movies with Gamergate?
Nah, we certainly won't be taking credit for all the good bits of this movie and how this is OUR MOVIE!
Please pirate responsibility :)

Jackman's looking pretty old too. Definitely not getting the "ages incredibly slowly due to healing factor" vibe from him in that clip.

I mean getting a diversity hire killed is pretty based?
Part of me agrees with that, and from what I saw she was a pretty unlikeable person.
But I don't think I'm willing to side with the Corporate DEI Squad on this issue just because they killed a random negro.

She wasn't a stuntman, she was a motorcycle racer. Which is just one of the many safety issues that caused the incident.
If someone just died due to pure incompetence at their own job, it would be a tragedy not a major issue.
Deadpool 2 is a diet version of The Boys. It's a murder fantasy against those evil White Christian males for their transphobia.
To be honest, I can't remember Deadpool 2, at all. I have no idea if you're serious. Not sure if ageing or subjugated to modern movie writers.
I'm serious. The plot is an allegory of conversion therapy.
Huh? Don't they execute a school full of pedophiles?
I suppose you could always Arrrr and then, if it's enjoyable enough, go see it again in theater, or something.
Arrr first, ask questions later.
