Had a family gathering last week and experienced the same thing, although thankfully my liberal family members only brought up politics a few times and the subject was quickly dropped.
But the last night we were together, my nephew mentioned how Biden said he was the first black female President. His Mom immediately got upset and defensively said; "No, no, that's not true." When my nephew insisted that Biden did say it and there's a video, she said, "No he didn't! If there's a video it's a deep fake or whatever!"
While this was happening, I brought up a search showing all the articles about it but she wouldn't look at them and stormed out saying we shouldn't talk politics lol
I was fascinated and horrified at the same time. It was so on the nose for how we view NPC's so yeah I definitely believe you OP
It is a literal crisis of faith for them. All their prophets, all their seers, all their thought leaders, all their experts knew that Biden was a shell of a man and then lied to them about it.
For a Christian, it would probably be like finding out God is real and all powerful but also does not care at all about humanity.

We a a people really need to start reconsidering the value of democracy soon. The general population is just too stupid/weak to wield it properly
