Seems every year you see this. I live in Texas, summers are hot and anyone who has a heat related death gets tied to climate change. They do this in the winter too. Here in north Texas winters shift between cold and warm until spring but whenever it gets warm in January they act like we are going to die.

I don't expose myself to that sort of news enough to notice but, now that I've checked...that's a big yes.
Also, check this bullshit out. (And, no, I don't live in Portland, I just searched for Oregon weather news and found that.)
It's actually shockingly fucking dishonest. The saying has been making the rounds, but you don't hate journalists enough.
Oh, man, record high temps!
It's a little unclear, but when they say 'first time this year,' they actually mean for the first time of that year,' not that this year they hit it for the first time.
Again, hilariously dishonest and stupid.
I can't tell if the author is lying, or simply too stupid to read. Probably a combination, honestly.
And people don’t check but you can find hotter temps years ago
My favorite is when they change the heat color maps to make it look like it's getting worse.
That one of the UK is my favorite. 27-29C temps 5 years ago? All good. Nice yellow green hue. Now? Deep red like its a terror alert.
Yup. It's clearly available, and it's not what the media spin tells you.
Yeah I live in an area that's been getting a couple days a year in the low triple digits as long as I can remember but everyone is opportunistically freaking out about it now. Somehow I doubt it will be as urgent in 2025.
where and how that temperature is measured matters too.
middle of an airport runway at high noon? fuck off.
They act like these records mean anything, but most of them only go back a few decades, which is meaningless in terms of global climate.
Like, what, you're going to record average daily temperatures with an ice core?
