I'll say that the Fromsoft model, and all its copycats, of not allowing you to pause anything ever makes having a child and playing the game a real either/or situation. I don't particularly like it much anymore either. But its also one of those things you learn to live with, and picking when to play it or something with easy pausing is part of having any hobby with children. Same reason I don't even consider Raiding anymore.
Unironically, a lot of the points she is making have merit deep down. Little things like rebindable keys and "not having button mashers" go a long way to making games just better in general for both regular people and maybe those who are a little lacking.
But that has nothing to do with Elden Ring (minus the lack of pause, but that's been a thing for over a decade now) and instead of pushing the validity of the point she turned them all into cry fests about her, her, her and her victimhood. It undermines all of it and turns it into a joke.
So, once again its a woman ruining a good thing by making it all about themselves.
Single player games you can't pause are just plain retarded. I totally understand if you can't play with your inventory, use items, or what not while at risk in the world. That's fine. An option for "I would not like to participate in this game in any way for a period of time" should be a default feature.
I also appreciate games that offer a "quick save" feature that allow you to totally abandon a game and return later with a one-time-use save if they otherwise want to limit saving. Especially long talky RPGs. Sometimes you go into a section of talking and have no idea you're about to spend 30 minutes there.
Everything else is things I don't like about game design, but I'm not screeching about disabilities and trying to make a dev feel bad for not accommodating it like this ho.
FYI, in Elden Ring, if you open the inventory menu, press the help button, and then press the menu explanation button, it literally pauses the game. With a bit of muscle memory, this is quickly done.
Good tip, though I imagine with the same amount of button presses you could quit out the entire game and rely on the generous autosave.
The meme where when a dude takes a picture of an object. Its a picture of an object. But when a girl takes a a picture of an object, she gotta make sure she is in the foreground, while object is secondary lol.
And when you are playing in offline mode, what then? Considering that is an option easily chosen, its something they took into their design.
