The father is Guy Riffett. Federal prosecutors attempted to put him up on Terrorism charges and get him 15.5 years in prison, but they failed to get that. So he was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison. Part of that was an obstruction charge, which I'm wondering is similar to the obstruction charges that just got overturned by SCOTUS.
With possible improvements to mental health in the next few years in the prison system i hope that there might be some evolving in my fathers mindset once he is transported down to Texas out of that echo chamber of the “patriot” wing.
In DC there have been major brainwashing attempts by the prison system, demanding that detainees memorize leftwing books before even being allowed to speak to prosecutors about plea deals. However, being transported out of the "patriot wings" where all J6 defendants are perpetually kept doesn't help them because it cuts off any support network. Multiple J6ers have been charged with contempt of court for not appearing at trial after the prosecution has had them moved, and then not told the prisons about the defendant's next trial date. The purpose of keeping defendants constantly moving is to keep them perpetually insecure and unable to contact either family or legal counsel.
Patriot wings are both a detriment and a positive, as it allows the J6'ers to support each other, and even help foster communications or legal aid from within the prison. However, very often they are kept under harsher conditions than the general population, including 23 hour solitary confinement; so organization and support is harder. However, if you have no patriot wing, and you are kept isolated from any other political dissidents, you're just on your own. We tend to see these 'patriot wings' broken up in prisons only after the dissidents have spent months or years basically living and working with the prison staff long enough that the prison staff recognize them as: not dangerous, not harmful, not racist, and not breaking the rules. That's when most of the abuse tends to end. That's when the wings are broken up and the prisoners are scattered; specifically because the abuse stopped organically.
Keeping the defendants perpetually moving, and perpetually isolated, has been a great way of the the government shattering the psyche of prisoners.
if you look into Guy's case, he never even entered the capitol and yet somehow inspired the riot. The primary goal of the government in these cases seems to be to drive the defendants either to suicide, or to making testimony against Trump or other defendants.
It is doubtless that Guy's mental health will continue to deteriorate and worsen as his isolation and abuse continues.
For my family while plenty of people disagree with them there is no reason to not support them through what they are currently going through.
Your primary goal is to destroy your family. Why would we "support your family" by watching you get money for killing it and driving your father to suicide?

Several weeks later the court clerk sent a notice to the parties informing them that the trial date had been changed from February 19 to February 20. Two days later, U.S. Probation Officer Karl Richins sent a letter to Weaver in which he erroneously referred to the trial date as March 20, 1991.

Especially look at the lies told by the ATF, such as Randy was a member of the Aryan Nation, or Randy was a Green Beret (and as such very dangerous), or that Randy had sent terroristic threats to Regan. All of which were provably false, but the ATF and NYT and even his own lawyer at trial repeated the bullshit.
Maybe J6ers being moved around can radicalize other prisoners who are simple petty criminals. Giving people something to believe in is how you get a fuck up to turn their life around.
