Anthropomorphic animals are usually cute and everyone likes them.

Not everyone. After a certain age, they become creepy, or at least one sees them as infantile, unless you're talking about something along the lines of the old Warner Bros. cartoons of the 40s and 50s--Foghorn Leghorn, Porky Pig, Bugs Bunny, etc. which are sophisticated enough in their humor and satire to entertain actual adults.
