If you haven’t seen The Best Years of Our Lives check it out when you have a chance. It’s on Freevee and Pluto. Made in 1946 it’s about 3 men returning home from WW2 and adjusting back to civilian life. Maybe I’m sentimental but it’s really a beautifully made film.

Harold Russell also starred in a information film the War Department made. Incidentally it is now June 6, the very day he lost his hands to a block of TNT while working as an instructor.

Oh wow. Didn’t know he had hooks in real life
I think it won Best Picture. Is this the film with the guy with the hook hands?
It won:
The Academy also awarded a special honorary Academy Award to Harold Russell.
Yes. Navy veteran. I know I have a soft spot for military related movies but I think it’s genuinely good
Just looked it up, I'll have to take some time to watch it.
It's nice to know though looking at a history of it, it was the extremely popular throughout the entire 1940s.
It’s almost three hours so maybe break it up if you don’t have the time
Is there an intermission like Battle of the Bulge?
Not quite that long. Or Ben Hur length . But it is worth it
I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the recommendation Smith; your posts always remind me there's good stuff out there even if you have to dig.
I appreciate that. Someone suggested I send out a list of my favorite British shows. So working on that
If it doesn't include Red Dwarf or Black Adder, you're dead to me.
Of course those are included. I can do a decent Cat impression
But how's your Duane Dibbley impression?
Not terrible but could use some work
I remember seeing it as a kid and being kind of amazed at how good that one guy was with his artificial arm.
Yea I was impressed with lobe he was able to light a match
Good choice for watching on the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
Why didn’t you just put the title of your stupid movie in the title?
Be nice dude. A conversational tone about things we like is what separates us from the
redditorssavages.Didn’t think of it. You don’t have to watch it. I think it’s a good movie. That’s all. Sorry to have bothered you
