They already "got away" with dropping bombs in space that require you to be on top of another ship in space. I can't see how they can top that in stupidity.
Didn't they have space horses in the third sequel? I don't know, it's not like I actually watched it. The space pegasuses were cool in Flash Gordon.
If you are going to use a "got away with" example, I don't think you should pick from TLJ. That retarded pile of manure is where a lot of us washed our hands of Star Wars. Mary Poppins Leia is where I "quit". I think the best example is visible laser bolts, although that may have existed beforehand as a scifi trope.
The space bomb dropping started with the original trilogy era tie in games like X-wing and Tie Fighter, the Y-Wing was usually given that bizarre bombing mechanic in any game it appeared in. Depends how much stock you give the EU I suppose.
"Dropping bombs in space" only requires initial propulsion and trajectory, though I'm guessing their setups didn't have any obvious propulsion launching.
When I think about space bomb dropping, I think back to the most powerful warheads available in TIE Fighter. Extremely slow, extremely powerful, though they obviously had some sort of guidance too.
Literally just opened a hatch and the bombs "drop" towards the ship that is "beneath" it.
Lucas had the idea of having them drop bombs like second world war then he realized is retarded and did not do it.
In the last Jedi, someone thought it was a good idea to do that, for what ever reason. I assume diversity hire woman that no one dared to say no to because that would be mysoginistic and is their turn to talk or something.
