Gonna have to disagree, Brotherhood is harder for new people to get into because it was written for people who already saw the '03 show and rushes through the early arcs.
Then read the manga. Or watch the first part of 2003 FMA and then switch to brotherhood. The 2003 FMA as a whole is not canon and it doesn't have the based story that the manga and brotherhood does.
