If you want to have a good time with one of the kinds of leftists who say CEOs don't do anything and don't matter, point out how many companies turn to shit when they put an Indian in charge. It won't work and they'll just somersault to another dialogue loop, but it's still funny.
honestly, besides their search engine Google never really made anything good. the company structure is such that they build a bunch of half projects that release with fanfare then quietly get canned.
Is Maps part of search? Because bugs and stupid mistakes aside (they once accidentally deleted a ton of indoor 360 views that people uploaded) I find it quite useful. Yes it was based on tech they bought, but they've added a lot since then like Street View and 3D. A really cool feature of street view is the ability to see previous views of an area over time.
I'm also pretty sure the whole thing is a CIA joint but that sounds really conspiratorial when I tell people and I can't prove it.
you got me there, maps is also very good tool. the fact that such a powerful tool is being offered for free by mega corporation almost guarantees that it's some kind of spying operation. whether it's CIA or something else, who can really say. all I know is that if you are not paying for it, you are not the consumer. you are the product.
This likely explains why Microsoft has shat the bed so hard in the last 20 years.

Xbox’s new president is a black woman too which isn’t helping that end of things.
And Google.
