Yeah, I saw a bit here, which I agree is strange. "It's not as bad as it could be" is a really fucking low bar and, from the little I've checked out, Fallout isn't great. Not sure why some people tried to defend it, maybe nostalgia too?
A mean, a Fallout show could/would be very cool. Maybe people got wrapped up in the potential and had rose-tinted glasses on.
I'll never understand how people think this is a good argument. There are only so many hours in the day I have which are not used for work, family or sleep. I'll be damned if I use any of them on something that is "not quite complete shit... but close".
Its because FOMO is powerful and some people feel compelled to be involved in "current event" so they can socialize with others.
Because for a large amount of people, and not just the Woke, they compensate for a boring, politics obsessed lack of personality by bonding over media consumption. So the "current event" show is the only way they can even have a conversation with their coworkers and they don't want to feel left out.
I mean, I talk about home projects and various struggles/successes there. Which filters out people I don't want to be involved with as they skulk off in shame and gets me helpful advice from my local community on things I need to learn.

They have accepted the new Overton window. Turn the water up on the frog another bit more.
