The article said that the parents elected to return to work after a meeting at the school. With the way this economy is, they may not have had the choice to take time off. Who knows, I'm just speculating.
I feel bad for the kid and all the parents involved. But at the end of the day, unless the parents actively bought their son a gun for the purpose of committing the crime, they should not have to pay for the actions of their child, no matter how horrific.
