Not to sound like a 'destroy the looms' Luddite, but automation does pose some severe problems. I'll laugh at their shit falling apart for now, but it's also probably only a matter of time until they do actually replace a lot of workers with AI or similar. Which is doubly problematic when some of the remaining jobs are staffed with illegals.
I wish we could go back to the good ol' days where actual Americans would do essentially 100% of the jobs in America.
Considering they've shown time and again they hate us, the push for automation will only lead to dystopic "own nothing and be happy" slavery from our betters, and not some utopia.
The only way you would go back to 100% of American jobs being in America, or close to 100%, is if you completely remove the internet. Unfortunately that won't happen unless there's another world war.
Well, let's take physical jobs for a start. Digital is indeed a whole other monster, but we could easily still stop massive physical outsourcing, or hiring illegals when you don't outsource.
This is a bit “whatabout-y” given that we’re mostly talking physical manufacturing and production-type jobs here…
Those have very little to do with the internet, and almost everything to do with supply chains, globalization and most importantly wages and working conditions…
That “trend” predates the mainstream internet by a few decades at least…

It's not like a certain Middle Eastern ethnostate is bombing embassies or anything.

A nice big solar flare could probably do it too.
