I was just wondering this morning about how humans got to be sex or drug or pleasure obsessed these days. How or why apes aren't seemingly prone to addiction in the way that humanity seems to be trending.
How serendipitous (somewhat) to see this.
Apes who are removed from the struggles of wild living easily develop addictions. Sam the Monkey is famous for his love of soda, cigarettes and beer. Three of the most common human addictions.
Its just hard to get addicted to things you never get to touch or that will get you killed fucking around with in the wild. And sex has millions of years of evolution to control in any social animal (usually with literal violence and fear keeping everyone except the leader from getting any).

Have you never read about just how often bonobos fuck each other?
No. Is it just when they're in captivity, or across the board?
Bonobos are the most promiscuous of the primates when comparing Gorillas, Humans, Chimpanzees, and Bonobos.
Gorillas are generally 1 male to about 3 females in a harem.
Humans are inherently promiscuous but culturally monogamous for the most part.
Chimpanzees are generally promiscuous.
Bonobos literally fuck as a means of greeting. It happens all the time.
Unironically Chad Gorilla and Beta Bonobo.
