I don't want them to adapt video games into TV shows and movies. I did at one time, but that was 25 years ago, and we got the super mario bros, and resident evil movie back then. (And it's slew of worse and worse sequels.)
Then I realized that I didn't want them to do that anymore. Nor would I watch any of the new stuff.
The Super Mario movie has a few parts that detract from the story - mostly involving Peach and Bowser acting bizarrely out of character - but they could be solved with a few simple edits. Overall it's really good, but it's still got a bit of Current Year taint on it.
Sonics 1 and 2 I had no problems with except maybe the weirdly short origin story with the bird mommy. What does it take, like three minutes after she's introduced for her to die?

The best video game movie will always be The Last Starfighter and that wasn't even based on a real game.
The new Sonics and Super Mario are good.

I feel like we're definitely going to enter the age of Vidya films the way we just left an age of Comic films.
Hate to be that guy, but that was actually 30 years ago.
For every 15 years you've lived past 18, add five years to how long ago you think something was. Serves me quite well.
