Since I deleted Starfield (maybe I’ll redownload it one day) from Steam I’m thinking of getting Baldurs Gate 3. I hear it can be fun if you ignore the gay stuff. Are 1 and 2 worth it? Also gonna look for some older RPGs on Steam or hack and slash

Waiting on Starfield to get mod support.
I think my problem was that I was wanting “Skyrim in Space”. Mods have greatly increased my enjoyment of Skyrim. Maybe the same can happen for Starfield
The problem is Skyrim had a solid if simplified foundation for their gameplay so it was easy to improve the game with mods. With Starfield because of how much crap is in there you're probably going to have to install 10gb of mods and the odds of that even working is extremely slim considering how devs are often incredibly lazy about mod supporting and dealing with that infrastructure.
I didn’t think of that but you are right. It makes me wonder as well if I’m really overhyping ES6 in my head
They are very good at their marketing and psyops if nothing else. When I saw the trailer and how hyped everyone was it made me realise they actually don't know or don't seem to care that they probably procedurally generated some terrain and stuck a castle model on the top of a hill and it shows you nothing about the game at all. Vampire Masquerade 2 also pulled a similar sneaky with their marketing and what they did was put an empty room and then did a liquid simulation and called it a day.
Fuck all effort involved in that except perhaps the castle so I don't want to be too unfair but realistically even if they did a ton of work on the castle itself and I'm sceptical they did given how distant the render shown was these days modern techniques make it incredibly easy to churn out this stuff if you only care about results and wowing normies for that 15 minutes of viral.
This kind of mentality you're posting about is exactly why I'm very wary of getting caught up in the normie mob mentality towards the current thing these days. I don't care how hyped they are, until I see gameplay I'm not making any kind of snap judgement. Even when shamelessly buying out streamers and reviewers they can't hide the problems that raw gameplay footage always end up showing.
I would not be shocked by the way if the ES6 really was featured in Hammerfell because it will give Bethesda the lore excuse they need to carpet bomb the area with black NPCs lol and the shills will go hard against any complainers on that point.
Honestly, not sure its going to happen. And I don't mean from bethesda itself, I mean from the actual modders. So many of them just aren't interested in it.
You might get a few mods here and there, but I really doubt we will ever see anything close to what skyrim or the fallout games have.
