I can't speak for him, but I would describe myself as a race realist. White nationalists with their predilection for paganism, Hitler stanning, and personal vitriol toward minorities in their daily lives don't sit well with me.
Most avowed WNs are losers that eventually will turn Fed. See the Unite the Right fallout. It's a shame they get kids mixed up in it like that guy who got 250 years from trying to escape rioters.
White Nationalists are VERY divided between Christianity and Paganism. It would be very unfair to characterize them as Pagan. I've seen an equal amount of both in the WN communities both irl and online.
However, the creation of hatred toward minorities by WNs is very real. Trying to distance oneself from a group because of that makes sense.
I was speaking mainly with regard to the ideas of creating a White Nationalist State. If you're a race realist then wouldn't the conclusion you also come to is that society would be ideal if the country was all mostly 1 race?
It's true, some WNs are Christian, but any group that tolerates paganism is not headed in a good direction. The general problem is that they think ethnocentrism is both sufficient and necessary to move the country in a good direction. I think it's necessary, but not sufficient by itself. I actually think letting Catholics immigrate en masse to a Protestant nation was a mistake, even though I'm partly descended from them.
The conclusion that the US should be mostly one race is exactly what I've come to. Once I read Jared Taylor's work, everything became clear, and he describes himself as a race realist.
Sounds like you are a WN then but you don't like the label of WN so you try to distance yourself from that even though that's what you are. At the end of the day if you want your nation to be mostly White people only, you're a WN. Kind of like how if you're White, you're White, even though White people consist of Catholics, Pagans, Protestants, Atheists, etc... but just because you dislike Pagans doesn't mean you aren't White if you are indeed White. It sounds to me like you are a WN even if you don't agree with some of the other people who call themselves WN.
You are 100% right though that being all White is necessary but insufficient. A big problem I have with many WNs is that too many of them think all-White is the only necessary thing to fix the country.
I think religion in the end matters a lot less than race. The White Catholics were less of a problem than the jews or Africans.

If that's all there was to it then yes, but that's not how the term is understood by the vast majority of people, and not just CNN viewers but people firmly on the right wing as well. There's a reason why the word "wignat" is used by people on the right, even groypers.

I would say religion is slightly more important than race, because of the long-term effects. Christianity brought Europeans up from barbarians into world powers.
White Catholics worked, contributed, etc, but the Catholic attitude towards charity and third worlders helped usher in the welfare state and mass immigration. Phillip Hart, the other half of Hart-Cellar, was Catholic. Most invaders from South America are Catholic and the Vatican definitely takes that into consideration. The climate change world domination plan of the current pope is characteristic of the institution, not just himself.
Paulie from the Sopranos defined "Elvis country" as "any place there are no Jews or Italians" - aka a nightmare for him. Sure, it's a TV show, but that was a real attitude and it speaks to a mindset in those ethnic groups towards founding Americans.

Why are you playing the left's game of using "nationalist" as a replacement for "supremacist"? They aren't the same thing.
I didn't use the term "supremacist." Matthew *Heimbach is everything I've described, it is what it is.
I don't think you understood what I said.
Apparently not. Heimbach and Richard Spencer were wignat leaders, so I don't see a problem using them to describe the movement.
