Pretty much. It's actually insane how a bunch of actual, literal pedophiles get upset over so-called "sexualization of children" in animated fiction. Especially when, as someone else mentioned, a bunch of the people enjoying the "children" (often not even presented with especially child-like characteristics anyway and, again...animated and fictional) are themselves quite young. There's nothing wrong with young people finding other young people attractive. Sure, there are disgusting weirdos who take it way too far, and we should be wary of them, but it's not the norm.
I think that's part of the problem; they can't separate fiction and reality, and take everything literally. It's amazing how pervasive the theme is in general. Whether or not people can take a nuanced perspective on reality, and acknowledge troublesome facts, seems to be a major dividing line in the left versus right, conservative vs progressive mindset. Which, to be clear, is not to say all right/conservative people are clearheaded, or all leftists are insane. But it's a common theme. Utopianism version rationality.
At one point I might have been inclined to discuss things with people on the other side, but if you're screaming about how people who like Hana Uzaki (a short college girl with huge tits) are pedophiles, you're just friend/enemy raging and it's not possible for me to communicate with you in any meaningful way.
Every person who publicly rages out about anime girls who aren't 18 years old is compensating for being a much, much worse disgusting pervert.
